EMMY TURNS 85!

Celebrating our proud history and bright future: For 85 years, Emmy Monash has been so much more than an aged care provider. We have been a home—filled with heart, heritage and a deep sense of belonging.

And this milestone belongs not only to Emmy…but to you. Our community has shaped our story from the very beginning. Emmy would not be what it is today without the people who have trusted and championed us across generations.

A Legacy Created Together

The Emmy Monash story began in 1948, when a dedicated group of Jewish women in Melbourne united with compassion and determination to support their community. Their simple acts of kindness laid the foundation for one of Melbourne’s most respected Jewish aged‑care communities—a legacy that continues to shape everything we do today.

Eighty‑Five Years of Growing and Leading

Across eight and a half decades, Emmy has evolved with the changing needs of residents and families, always remaining a place where:

Warmth, dignity and connection guide every interaction
Dedicated staff deliver exceptional care
Jewish life and traditions are celebrated daily
Community spirit strengthens who we are

As David Fried, son of long-standing donors Eva & Tab Fried, so beautifully expressed, “Emmy Monash is the gold standard in care for Melbourne’s Jewish community…you are the heartbeat of this community.”

These words reflect our values and will continue to inspire our future.

A Foundation for the Future

The Emmy Monash Foundation is playing an increasingly vital role, supporting future‑focused projects that elevate care, strengthen community and ensure Emmy remains a place of excellence for generations to come.

The Foundation reflects our commitment to progress—investing in innovation, our workforce, enhanced resident experiences and long‑term growth.

The future of Emmy is bright. Together, we will continue to provide a home filled with heart, community and meaning—today, tomorrow and for generations to come

“Emmy Monash is the gold standard in care for Melbourne’s Jewish community.”

Be part of our story…

We are creating a commemorative cookbook that honours 85 years of Emmy Monash, through the voices of our community.

Food has always been at the heart of Jewish life—whether it’s a Shabbat dish, a festival favourite, or a much‑loved everyday meal. Your contribution will help preserve the flavours, stories, and traditions that connect us across generations.

Recipe submissions close 17 April 2026.
